Disabled Gay Men
|
This is a discussion group for men who are physically impaired. This is to include wheelchair bound. Paraplegic, quadriplegic, and immobility due to disease. This is to include all levels of immobility. This is the thing most gay men don't like to talk about so we are swept under the rug. When was the last time you were in a club and had seen a person in a wheelchair, never! Where are we supposed to meet someone to date or to just make new friends. All you see is the broad chiseled chest and beautiful people in the clubs and on the internet. Well, we as handicapped people have the chiseled chests and beautiful faces, but tell that to an abled bodied gay men that you are handicapped and you will be dropped like a hot potato. Its almost like coming out allover again. So, if you are out there and I know you are, please drop me a line because I would love nothing better than to talk to you and maybe we can make each other feel better about the conditions that surround us. As we know Gay Men on he most part are shallow and would like nothing better than to pretend we don't exist. This is ashamed because they are only one MVA or motorcycle accident away from being where we are today. I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis 5 years ago, I was a productive member of society. I had a full time job, made great money, had a home a lover and a car. You know, all the stuff we strive for in our lives. The American Dream! Everything was great, then the diagnosis came, my life went to hell in a handbasket. I lost my job, we lost our home, then the lover of 7 years went. Its something when you think you know someone and boy when the chips are down the week ones in the relationship seem to disappear. This is OK because I am much stronger that I had ever dreamed! It has been an eye opening experience as to humanity and there shortcomings. I thought he would be there for me and as I sat in the hospital for 3 almost 4 months with 1 visit from him I kinda figured out this was it. So I'm sure we all have had experiences like this. I just want to share them with others like ourselves. Sorry for the rambling on but I just wanted to let a little of my story out there so we all know where we are coming from. Please feel free to leave a message and maybe we can chat. Thanks so much.
